10.30 P.M. true time. Merc. Lord sq. Jupiter semi-sq. Venus (Jup. trine Venus) aquarius Opp. Herschel. Luna rising trine Mars sext. Neptune sq. Sol. Herschel near opp. Mercury. a tremendous figure: the Moon (mother of Twins = הּ as new Nuit) dominating the whole conception Herschel and Mars in 10th smashing their way back to destroy the enemy.

12.15 (11.15) When I saw the new moon this month, she was definitely barred with black. The same thing happened the following night. Now to-night, looking out on to Chantilly Park, this phenomenon—never before observed—occurred for the third time. The bar was somewhat filmy; and as I watched, it cleared away, and was immediately replaced by a very well defined thick very black bar!
