Pranayama 15 minutes, as yesterday.
They have now backed out of the cigarette promise I got out of them. Jane [Jane Wolfe] must return from Palermo with them, and the Yi [King] must be consulted. Now Lea [Leah Hirsig] was magnanimous, and is now cross. Meanwhile C.M. [Cecil Maitland] is cigaretteless—and they [illegible] keep matters from coming to a head.
We have not given in ‘in principle’, but nearly ‘in practice’, and I’m damned bored with the business, and my back is up at their jolly. C.M. is as pleasant as a hedgehog, and I suppose I must keep him patient, and myself going, and they are asses to make enemies of us—C. is making me as cross as they.
