Nick [Frieda's son] has been an avalanche which destroyed all my vitality & made me into an anxious char-woman mum, mending clothes & running errands & then suddenly disappearing & leaving possessions & no address & even now I don't know where he is somewhere on a ship, which gives me mental toothache.
