Aleister Crowley Does

Not Admit Insolvency

The first meeting of creditors under a receiving order made on 1 February, against Edward Alexander Crowley, author, was held in Bankruptcy Buildings, London, to-day.

The Official Receiver said Mr. Crowley, who had stated that he was also a psychiatrist and was commonly known as Aleister Crowley, estimated his liabilities at £5,000.

He did not admit insolvency and attributed his present position to inability to earn money owing to damage to his reputation arising from a lawsuit.

His assets comprised a large claim in a pending action against a person now stated to be abroad.

The meeting was closed, Mr. Crowley’s affairs remaining in the hands of the Official Receiver.
